Abstract Painting for sale by artist Adam Murphy
The painting in this section are heavy influenced by the abstract expressionism art movement of the 1950s, I have adapted ideals from many abstract artists including Jackson Pollock, Gerhard Richter and Franz Kline along with some of ideas of my own. Through my abstract painting I have investigated with the idea of the 'controlled accident', often experimenting with gesture and the element of chance. On one hand I have created elements of my paintings by allowing the paint to do the work for me, I have done this in a wide variety of ways from all different types of mix media and experimental techniques. Some of these include using spray paint, painting without any use of a brush to mimic the effect of painting, drip painting, bleaching or sometime even leaving a painting out in the rain to my personal favourite, although often very mess firing paint from a big party cannon. However I also like to adopt a more intimate approach to my painting, by producing much more delicate and deliberate brushwork to create a personalised and detailed textural contrast to my artwork.
