This painting was inspired by an image taken from the fallout of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. I wanted to create a distorted and exaggeration version of the events. Katrina along with many tragic natural disasters are the end of the world for many people but are localised events, however if something so devastating where to happen on a global scale it would spell the beginning of the end. I have use the image of fire raining down to symbolised the 'fire and brimstone' revelation ending of the New Testament. I have used the figure or a fireman or perhaps the image of myself in a fireman jacket to honour all those who fight to keep are world together if it wasn't for people like them in our hours of need I don't think it would be long before we faced our last days.
Painting was produced using watercolour, pen, pencil, ink, correction fluid and a variety of quick wet into wet materials. I produced this image for the deviantart ‘Darksiders’ art contest ‘Your last days’. I didn't start this until deadline day as I came to competition late and I wanted to create an immediate and spontaneous response went considering my emotions and interpretation of the theme.
